Jungmaven founder Robert Jungmann has been working with hemp textiles since '93. He started the clothing brand, Manastash, while attending Central Washington University and opened a brick and mortar on the "Ave" in Seattle.
Robert began Jungmaven in 2005 while on a Costa Rica surf trip with a group of friends who had a surf shop/batik studio in Point Arena, CA. In the beginning, everything Jungmaven was hand waxed individually in Northern California, the process is called batiking and it takes patience and time, each shirt 3-4 hours. Today, many pieces are still crafted in this manner.
Their goal is to get everyone in a Hemp T-Shirt by 2020.. so we are happy to help them with this!
Large scale commercial farming of industrial hemp is a key ingredient in slowing global climate change.
